Humaans raises $15 million Series A funding round led by Lachy Groom with participation from the founders of Slack and Shopify to reimagine the HR tech stack for world-class organisations.

Humaans employee management platform allows organisations to maintain a central hub of employee data while building a customisable people operations stack instead of a one-size-fits-all software platform. The stack helps companies manage employee data, documents, reporting, and people processes that power the entire structure.

A couple of years ago, Karolis and I set to change how people think about HR software. HR tools have historically been clunky, slow and not designed to provide a great user experience – while the expectations of modern operators increased and their needs have been changing rapidly.

We recognised the need for more effective processes and systems that proactively help modern organisations support their workforce. The recent explosion of tools available to people teams in high performing organisations meant they were often adopting poor underlying offerings at the core of the HR stack. Flexibility, connectivity and beautiful, user-friendly product design is what we envisioned to set Humaans apart from these offerings, allowing organisations to design and maintain an ever evolving people tech stack that scales with the business, not against it.

Today we're excited to share the announcement of our $15 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Lachy Groom with participation from Exor; Exponent Founders Capital; Shopify founder Tobias Lütke; Slack founder Stewart Butterfield; Niantic COO Megan Quinn; Asana CRO Oliver Jay; Peakon founder Phil Chambers; BOND General Partner Jay Simons; former Slack CPO April Underwood, ASDF Ventures; Pleo Senior People Leader Jessie Danyi; Fidel API CEO Dev Subrata. Previous investors including Moonfire Ventures, Frontline Ventures, and Next Play Ventures also participated in the round.

We're grateful for the support and are excited to be able to draw on the expertise of some of the best operational and product thinkers in technology and beyond, who have invested in our vision.

Macro and our approach

Despite the recent market dynamics, we hit important milestones and experienced meaningful growth in the past 12 months.

This funding round will help us consolidate our UK presence and accelerate Humaans’ expansion into the European market, enable us to further invest into the product and in hiring world class talent, as well as strengthen the position of the business.

During the 2021 euphoria, we opted for a contrarian approach in building Humaans. From day one we were deliberate about staying lean, focusing on execution excellence, and hiring slowly to prioritise high caliber talent as well as relentlessly learning from customers’ needs. Our approach enabled us to move quickly on both the product development and on the Go-to-Market side, increasing our efficiency. This enabled us to be in a position where today we don’t need to scale back our ambition and can benefit from the current market dynamics to accelerate further.

At Humaans our goal is to build a resilient business that can scale supporting customers and their employees for the long term.

The next chapter

Building a venture scale business ground up is a collective effort, and we want to thank our customers, our employees, our investors, and the wider community for betting early on our ambition.

Our roadmap is meaningful and our journey is only at the beginning. We need help from exceptional talent to drive more value, and actively hiring across multiple disciplines. If you’re as excited as we are about enabling organisations to build a better world of work, check out our career page.

To our customers

The progress we made is largely because of your contribution and trust. By trusting us and working with us, you're not only supporting our business and growth - you're enabling us to learn and ensure we can build a platform that can empower many modern leaders just like you. Thank you!
